Player evaluations are an important part of the regular season. During evaluations, your child will be asked to field fly balls and ground balls, throw, run, and have a turn at bat. There is no need to worry about missing the catch, or a swing and a miss. The managers are not looking for perfection, but for athleticism, good attitude, and their basic abilities. Evaluations are conducted by the player agent to allow for all of the approved managers to have an opportunity to objectively judge every child's skill level. This will in turn allow for the teams to be drafted by skill, more so than age, and allow for those teams to be as evenly matched as can be.
Once the evaluations are completed, the managers then participate in the draft, led by the player agent. The board of directors have decided to use the annual redraft method in which all players re-enter the pool every season. We have found this method works well for building friendships and a sense of community within the league and feel this is more important than building powerhouse teams.
