Teams, with the exception of T-ball, are selected via the draft. When players abilities are improving drastically, and players of the same age have varying degrees of ability, teams must be selected in this way to provide a fair and equitable environment. In addition, and most importantly, this provides a safer level of play.
The draft begins with the Major Division and works down to Machine Pitch. With the teen divisions, the league holds an evaluation of all the players and along with the managers, draft the teams according to skill, age, and safety.
One of the benefits this brings to the children is that after two or three seasons the players get to know many friends on other and competing teams.
